A Killingworth-based facilities management business has marked double-digit growth for its fifth consecutive year after swelling its ranks by more than a quarter.
DCS Multiserve has revealed a 28% growth rate in its year-end financial report and has created 60 permanent positions this year – staff investments the firm said has been key to its success.
The company, based in Camperdown Industrial Estate, is celebrating its 27th year in business and now employs over 278 full time staff within the region.
Established in 1987 by former engineer Michael O’Hara, the company began life providing on-site cleaning services to businesses in the region.
The company offers Full Facilities Management, including Cleaning, Catering, Washroom Services, Building and Grounds Maintenance, Consumable Supplies and Waste Management to businesses across the whole of the UK and is now actioning an expansion plan.
Group operations director Jim Campbell said: “Continuing to grow even in the depths of the recession is a huge success and a testament to the staff we employ. The growth we have experienced, specifically in the last five years, has been exceptional and I strongly believe this is down to our employees and the personal service we offer to our clients.”
Even throughout the recession, DCS Multiserve continued to recruit and invested heavily in employee development, a decision O’Hara believes, has been key to the firm’s more recent success.
Michael O’Hara said: “At a time when many people were scaling back, we took the decision to recruit new staff and develop a structured training programme and we actually doubled our workforce during this time,” he said.
“In a bid to ensure that our high rate of employee retention remained as we grew, we ensured that all who worked for us received ongoing development, something that I think has played a huge part in our success, as our clients are able to benefit from the results of this training.”
